There are constant changes taking place in Orlando - even in the long-established attraction areas, so make sure that the map you get is current.
Case in Point: Recently, at Outdoor World, I purchased a beautiful map of Orlando published by National Geographic. It was by no means complete, and many of the names of the hotels is listed had changed hands are were no longer to be found.
So, even a trusted source, with waterproofing, fine printing, etc - even with a copyright one year older than when I bought it was woefully outdated.
GPS is nice in getting you to a waypoint - point "A" to point "B", but sitting around the coffee table at night planning your next day's adventure it is totally frustrating and almost worthless.
The Orlando visitors and convention bureau publishes a decent map of the tourist areas - and it's free. Unlike many of the tourist maps, there's no a lot of advertising on it, but it doesn't get into too much detail at the street level.
AAA members can also get several maps of Orlando - even a very detailed street level map that may be overkill for youif you're just here on vacation for a week; but, if you're house-hunting, or going to venture into areas other than the attractions area, you con't go wrong with it.
