With its exciting water slides, "lazy river" with bone chilling cave, colorful slopes of Mount Gushmore, this is a perfect spot for a family vacation with members of all age groups.

The kids play area is designed specially for pre-teenage children and contains scaled down attractions of the thrilling rides available for the adults.

Chairlifts help you to reach the top of the artificial hill and guests with disabilities can avail the gondola facility. Safety concerns can be addressed by locker rentals and bus facility helps you to commute in the water park. Hotel guests can avail free parking facility.

Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park

Blizzard Beach, a water park at the Walt Disney World Resort, was opened on April 1, 1995. This "ski resort" was born with mascot named "Ice Gator".

Mount Gushmore, an artificial hill at a 27 m elevation hosts the attractions of this park. This hill is split into three colorful slopes - Red, Purple and green, which guide the guests around the park.

The park features exciting free falling waterslides and rides suitable for a family. It caters to the kids with a play area and scaled down version of the thrilling rides available for the adults.

Attractions

Exciting raft rides, intense slides, a huge one acre wave pool, children's play area are some of the attractions at the Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. Water temperature is approximately maintained at 80 degrees Fahrenheit except in the "Cross Country Creek" attraction

Green Slope

The attractions of this slope are located at the topmost point of Mount Gushmore and can be accessed either by chairlift or by foot. The chairlift facilities are available for only one way except for guests who may have physical challenges.

  • - Summit Plummet, the second tallest free fall slide is located here.
  • - Teamboat Springs, the world's longest white-water raft ride suitable for the whole family sends you down a slide with gushing waters
  • - Slush Gusher, a thrilling body slide attraction reaching up to 35 miles per hour is one of the few slides which reaches "air time".

Purple Slope

The attractions of this slope are designed for racing.

  • - Downhill Double Dipper, the world's only racing slide arranged side-by-side, requires a minimum height of 122cm to participate
  • - Snow Stormers, is an attraction where guests ride down with the mat in toboggan style
  • - Toboggan Racers is another water slide where guests lay stomach down on the mat which is toboggan style and race.

Red Slope

This is found at the back of the park and contains only one attraction.

  • - Runoff Rapids contains tube slides in which guests pass through exciting twisting and turning steel pipes.

 

Ground Level

  • - Meltaway Bay, a one acre wave pool with bobbing waves is found at the bottom of Mount Gushmore
  • - Cross Country Creek, a slow moving attraction (around half an hour) popularly known as "lazy river", travels around the park and carries the guests through a chilly ice cake. "Melting ice" is splashed from overhead on the floating guests

 

Ski Patrol

This is a kids play area with scaled down versions of the thrilling rides

  • - Leisure Pool contains "icebergs" for children to walk across.
  • - Fahrenheit Drops - Popularly called the "T-Bar", this attraction drops children under five feet into a pool containing water of eight and a half feet.
  • - Freezin' Pipe Springs, a short body slide again deposits children in eight and a half feet deep water
  • - Cool Runners is wide inner tube slide area creates melting snow during the journey through the tubes
  • - Tike's Peak contains scaled down versions of the exciting slide rides available for adults. In addition, a fountain play area with water jets is also available for children to play.

Chairlift

This facility can be availed by guests (3 persons at a time) to travel from the bottom of Mount Gushmore to the summit. It is an attractive lift with wooden benches, colorful umbrellas on trop and snow skis underside. This facility is available for people only one-way. Disabled guests can also avail the Gondola to reach the top of this artificial hill.

Guest Services

This list guides you on comfortable wear, locations of the ATM locations and procedures for renting the locker facility. It is advisable to keep your belongings in the locker and enjoy the thrilling attractions without bothering about the safety of your valuables. Wear water shoes while visiting the park as you may have to climb the stairs for some attractions. Also, the ground may become hot during the day!

Food and beverages

There are restaurants where you can pick up quick snacks. There is also a pool bar in the outdoor. A light lunch or dinner could typically cost $15 per adult. Though food baskets and coolers are allowed, glass and alcoholic items are restricted inside the water parks. You can also avail special dining coupons which give discounts on food items at more than 100 Walt Disney restaurants across the world.

Transportation

Bus facilities are available to commute throughout Walt Disney World Resort. Hotel Guests can choose to avail complimentary self parking facility in case they choose to commute in their own vehicle.
