Getting Around Orlando - taxi, car rental, bus, shuttles and limo service

Local Guide to Transportation

Updated: January 20, 2012

There are several strategies for getting around Orlando while on vacation.

Some people prefer to stay on or near the theme park they plan to visit, hotels, shopping and restaurants all within walking distance.

Pulbic transportation in Orlando is better than average by Florida standards, but nowhere near what Europeans may be used to . Bus service runs throughout the area, and schedules are quite regular.

Many hotels away from the "Attractions" offer complimentary shuttle service to and from - even if you have a car, using the free shuttle can save money on gas and parking ($10).

Getting Around Orlando

Along the International Drive (I-Drive) area, there is a trolley (the I-Trolley), that is inexpensive, frequent, and a good bet for anyone who stays along I-Drive.

There are also a number of local companies that offer guided tours of the area and some that offer shuttle service to various attraction areas - namely shuttle service to Tampa and Busch Gardens.

With the combined cost of gas and parking, it can make sense to utilize the free shuttle service offered by many of the hotels to the various theme parks.

Also, one thing to consider if youare planning to spend all your time at a specific park is to look into the lodging packages offered by the park that includes on-site lodging. The benefits sometimes include VIP treatment for getting to the front of attraction lines and also extended park hours.
