There are a number of local resources in the area that will give you information to make your stay a better one.
Many of the visitor centers you'll find in the area are opertaed by private firms or individuals, so the information may be biased towards their company. However, many do sell tickets to the theme parks - Disney, SeaWorld and Universal at a discount - and may be worth a look into.
The Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau has a location on I-Drive that has hundreds of brochures, calendar of events and local guides - as well as merchandise for sale nd discoutned rates on Disney, Universal and SeaWorld admission.
A stop by the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau or the Kissimmee Convention and Visitors Bureau are highly recommended before visiting any of the theme parks.
Savings on tickets, purchesed at these visitors centers can be substantial. While their staff cannot tell you which restaurant or hotel to stay in, there is enough material and resources to help you make an informed decision.
Do take care of the many "visitors centers" that are retail outlets for real estate and other commercial entities who will attempt to direct you to a place that is in their interest and not yours.
